Report: U2 to embark on Joshua Tree 30th anniversary tour, headline Bonnaroo 2017

March 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of U2’s classic LP, The Joshua Tree, and Bono and the boys intend to celebrate in a big way. Today, the band released a Christmas video message promising “big plans for” next year, including a string of “very special shows” commemorating their fifth studio album.

The dates themselves have yet to be announced, but sources tell Billboard that the band will hit US stadiums in the spring ahead of a run of European shows. Billboard specifically reports plans for a pair of dates at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium as well as a headlining performance at Bonnaroo next June.

U2 previously headlined Glastonbury in 2011, but Bonnaroo would mark the band’s first-ever appearance at a North American music festival. Representatives for the Manchester, TN festival did not respond to our request for comment, but fans can expect a formal lineup announcement early next year.
