While it shouldn’t come off as much of a surprise if you caught last month’s news about Toronto’s Great Lake Swimmers and their brand new studio album Lost Channels, set for release on March 31, the band has finally confirmed their upcoming spring tour.
The U.S. trek, which kick off on the west side in Seattle, Washington in early March before taking the band just about everywhere, including Canada, will showcase Great Lake Swimmers’ “new” sound (acquired from an enlightening discovery on their trip through the Thousand Islands). Based off the va
riety showcase of artists who performed alongside Great Lake Swimmers last year, (Feist, Goldfrapp, Alison Krauss, Robert Plant and Bela Fleck & The Sparrow Quartet), one can only imagine what surprise Tony Dekker and his gang have in store for us this year.
Of course, long trips on the road is nothing new for the band. Dekker and Co. have already been hard at work this month touring at select venues with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and it looks like they’re off to a good start already! Unfortunately, Tweedy won’t be tagging along with Great Lake Swimmers past January, so hurry up and catch this phenomenal pair up while it lasts.
