Most know the name Dan Auerbach for his work in the garage blues duo The Black Keys. With that outfit, the 29-year-old plays lead, rhythm, and provides vocals alongside drummer Pat Carney.  Though Auerbach has some extra help on his recently released solo debut, Keep It Hid, his do-it-all approach nonetheless remains. And as we learned this past Friday on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, the same can be said when Auerbach takes his solo work to a live setting.

Despite being supported by four touring musicians (that adds up to over twice the number of musicians in the keys, in case your math is not so good), the bluesed out Ohioan dazzled in musicianship, switching between solos and rhythm almost as if he didn’t have a rhythm guitarist to his right or a bassist to his left. Ironically however, the presence of the four accompanying musicians as opposed to the normal two did take away from some of the wow factor. Nitpicky, I know, but the song is good, so who cares. Have a look:

Auerbach will begin his “solo” tour later this month, February 28th to be exact, at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.
