Q: How does one become the largest single day festival in the United States of America?
A: Round up a slew of high-profile electro-friendly acts, such as Paul Oakenfold, Infected Mushroom, Simian Mobile Disco, Thievery Corporation and The Crystal Method and have them perform at Los Angeles’ Memorial Coliseum & Exposition Park on the last weekend of June.
Well, that’s all this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival had to do to draw 45,000 ravers/festival goers this past Friday and a record setting 90,000 on Saturday (via URB Magazine). If the total holds true, apparently it has yet to be officially confirmed, day two of EDC ’09 will go down as the most attended single day festival in the history of United States music festival — Lollapalooza ’08 is believed to be the current holder with a total attendance of 225,000, resulting in a 75k single day number.
Oh, the power of the rave…
