Apparently, Lou Barlow doesnt like resting. After all, the last few years has seen the lo-fi pioneer touring and recording with Dinosaur Jr. (Did we mention we really like Farm?), playing with the reformed Sebadoh, and now, as Pitchfork reveals, releasing a second solo album, the followup to 2005s Emoh. Its called Goodnight Unknown, is due for release on October 6th via Merge, has fourteen songs (see the track listing below) and features a guest appearance by Dale Crover of The Melvins and Fantomas. Producing the album is Andrew Murdock, who previously has assumed that role with such non-lo-fi acts as Godsmack and Linkin Park. Yeah, we dont get it either, but Lou Barlow remains one of the strongest songwriters of our time, so let’s not judge too quickly…
Additionally, if youre eager to check out Barlows solo tunes live, simply buy a ticket to any of Dinosaur Jr.’s recently announced tour dates: the tours opening slot will be filled by Lou himself, who will be showing off his new solo work backed by by The Missingmen.
