Kidz Bop plus Kanye West … sounds like a match made in heaven, no?
Well, before you jump to the conclusion that this is a terrible idea, consider this: Kanye is always working to help the kids. His big June benefit show at the Chicago Theatre was free for Chicago Public School kidz (whoops, I mean kids). Plus, the Kanye West Foundation, which was started by the rapper’s late mother Dr. Donda West, works to combat the level of school dropouts.
But now, the Kidz are working to help Kanye. The idea, in my head at least, is that covering the rapper’s song “Heartless” is a form of gratitude, boosting Kanye’s reputation in the 5-12 age bracket. What remains to be seen, is whether it will work. Kids seem to love the Kidz Bop series, which has sold over 11 million units.
This isn’t much worse than the terrifying version of “Boom Boom Pow” by the Black Eyed Peas or T.I.’s “Live Your Life”. However, it ain’t pretty either. The creepy Kidz get the full-out Auto-tune treatment, while they talk about their “homies” and other general silliness.
Stream it here, but know that you’ve been warned it might ruin your day.
