After nearly three years, Bassnectar is ready to return with Cozza Frenzy, an album billed as “an amalgamation of sound that combines dubstep, electro, hip-hop, and all styles of dirty digital bass-heavy music and smashes it all into a collision of wobbling, perverted basslines, and hypnotic hide-and-seek adventures.”
Basically, as the San Francisco electro outfit goes on to elaborate, whereas the live shows are “explosive orgies of sound and light that literally turn into mosh pits, the album explores not only the frenzy but also the meltdown. Lush, expressive melodies and playful combinations of sound are just as much a trademark as the insane thickness and heaviness that pervades each song.”
All this madness can be heard beginning September 29th when the album drops digitally, with CDs available in stores on October 27th. Due out via Bassnectar’s personal imprint Amorphous Music, the effort sports 15 tracks and features collaborations with artists such as Fever Ray, Zumbi of Zion I, Mr. Projectile, and Capital J.
Oh, and the best part? Bassnectar will support the release with some of those aforementioned “explosive orgies of sound and light that literally turn into mosh pits.” The tour runs from September 18th to December 6th and includes dates in both the U.S. and Canada as well as appearances at Symbiosis Gathering and Austin City Limits. The band will be accompanied by special guests DJ Vadim, Nosaj Thing, and Heavyweight Dub Champion at select cities.
