To answer the question surely on everybody’s mind, LCD Soundsystem is indeed working on the followup to 2007’s incredibly awesome Sound of Silver. In fact, the band’s creative genius, James Murphy, recently sat down with Mojo (via FACT) to provide a few details on said followup.

Well, sort of. According to Murphy, the album, which is still untitled and due for release in early 2010, is being recorded in a mansion in Los Angeles that sleeps 10 and has an “amazing pool. The experience was even more enjoyable because the band found a 20-year-old female who was super-tapped in to hipster lesbian disco L.A. “We were throwing parties with her all the time and eating incredible food,” he explained.

As for the actual content, the effort will include tracks titled “Why Do You Hate Music? — “Everyone seems to hate music right now, even people who make music,” Murphy explained” — and “Love In LA”. The frontman’s newly acquired EMS Synthi A is said to heavily prevalent throughout with the overall intention being to take more chances.

And that’s basically it. Well, aside from this li’l anecdote Murphy shared about the band’s experiences in L.A.:

“We decided, let’s make Los Angeles an imaginary Los Angeles of the soul from 1973. Everyone had to wear white all the time, so it’s like some sort of creepy fucking cult and we’d go to parties, 10 people in a mini-van all in white, and we’d have enough of an impact on how Los Angels operated. You leave a dent.”

Can you say anticipation? Good thing LCD Soundsystem drop 45:33 Remixes on September 15th to hold us over.
