Rumors are like confidence artists at a carnival game booth, they promise a lot but only sometimes deliver.  In a funny way, hype is like that also whereas you are promised a product and it does not meet the standards displayed. There has been one hype recently that surpassed expectations surrounding Death Magnetic, then Slayer blew us away at this year’s Mayhem Festival — now we hear stirring about of the “big four” in thrash touring as one for the first time ever.

Nothing is yet confirmed, but apparently Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich has been talking up certain things regarding this mythical creature. Slayer guitarist Kerry King was rumored to be in the grapevine, but he has a small reality check to dispense and some suggestions for Lars’ supposed lineup (via Metal Hammer):

“I’ve heard people referencing Lars. I don’t know Lars that well and I haven’t heard it from Lars, but apparently he’s talking to somebody about it. Maybe us, Metallica, Megadeth and, I think he even threw in Anthrax and I said in this day and age, I know we had that time together, but how do you leave out Machine Head? There’s better options than Anthrax and that’s nothing against Anthrax, but they’ve just been in pieces for quite some time and that doesn’t make as much sense to me.”

While some would gladly take Anthrax over Machine Head (no disrespect King), the tour itself currently resides in imaginations alone for now. Here is to hoping for the ultimate thrash to remember, but always hope for the best and expect the worst until delivered the best.
