After all the rumors and hoopla, we finally have a confirmed date for the Apple event of the year, and it all goes down September 9th. Crunch Gear reports that the big soiree is based on The Rolling Stones song, Its Only Rock n Roll (But I Like It), and when it comes to Apple, music-themed events mean only one thing: new iPods.
According to the rumors, the company’s new models will add a camera to the feature list for all iPods, which is pretty big news. This year, the iPod Touch, Classic and Nano will be getting cameras says Electricpig. And in another report, this time by Digittimes, the digital imaging specialists OmniVision signed a deal with Apple that makes them the sole supplier of the 3.2 megapixel CMOS imaging sensor, which will be used in the new iPod lineup.
If thats not enough evidence for you, insiders at Apple Authorized Resellers have told Ars Technica that the current iPod stock is running low and the 08-09 models have been discontinued. Now that truly means only one thing (unless Apple has decided to give up on the most ubiquitous media player on the market)… new iPods.
We’ll see you at the store this winter.
