As complete unknowns to most American music fans, except for a few Desperate Housewives fans and those of us under 50 who watch Letterman, Tokyo Police Club is trying to carve out their niche in the states like dozens of other bands. They took one step closer to that goal by signing an exclusive U.S. record deal.

The band’s new label, mom&pop, is founded by founders of Q Prime, who manage acts like Metallica, Muse, Silversun Pickups, and the Mars Volta. The label’s other acts include Aussie indie darling An Horse.

The band will also release their follow up to 2008’s Elephant Shell sometime in 2010. More news on the album and the subsequent string of tour dates as it comes. Stay tuned to the boys’ Twitter account for recording studio insights.
