Take it for what it’s worth, but according to Island Records co-president Darcus Beese, Amy Winehouse is actually still a professional musician and could be releasing a new studio before you know it.
I’ve heard a couple of song demos that absolutely floored me,” Beese said. “Hopefully we’ll have her album next year.”
Despite her well-publicized legal and personal problems (and the launch of her own record label), Winehouse has recently been writing and recording with producer Salaam Remi while living on the Caribbean island of St Lucia, although Beese did admitt the process has been “in fits and starts.”
In other news, Vegas is now taking bets on which happens first: A Libertines reunion or a new Winehouse album.
