Three years after Galactic returned From the Corner to the Block, the New Orleans jazz funk has announced plans for the February 9th release (via ANTI-) of its sixth studio album, a 15 track effort titled YA-KA-MAY.

According to ANTI-‘s blog, the New Orleans group has crafted an album that blends together all the distinct sounds of their home city and which features appearances by iconic New Orleans artists, including the Rebirth Brass Band, Irma Thomas, Big Chief Bo Dollis, Allen Toussaint and Walter “Wolfman” Washington. The band also worked on this record with younger acts, such as Trombone Shorty and Corey Henry, John Boutté, Josh Cohen and Scully, and Glen David Andrews. On top of all that, Galactic also welcomed “Bounce” artists like Cheeky Blakk, Big Freedia, Katey Red, and Sissy Nobby. Looks like this will definitely be one of the most-populated albums of the winter.

Ahead of the release, Galactic has a few upcoming tour dates, most of which come in the festival appearance variety.
