Jay-Z signs The Ting Tings to Roc Nation label

While dreams of a collaboration with MGMT may have proved to be a letdown, Jay-Z has not given up his hopes of taking over, or at least severely influencing the world of indie music. Case in point his recent decision to sign The Ting Tings to his record label, Roc Nation. Yep, the U.K. based duo of Katie White and Jules De Martino now call home the same place as J. Cole, Sugababes, and Wale.

What’s more, the rapper will reportedly produce the duo’s forthcoming sophomore effort, which will of course serve as the followup to 2008’s We Started Nothing. “The staccato rhythmic style of The Ting Tings sits well with what he does best so that was the attraction,” a “source” told London’s Daily Star. “Jay can make them one of the biggest bands across the pond.”
