Following up her 2007 smash debut Rockferry, Duffy has begun working on her second album and, as Billboard has discovered, she’s not doing it alone. The Welsh singer has recruited Roots drummer Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and songwriter Albert Hammond Sr. (yes, the father of the Strokes guitarist) to help her out with her the yet-to-be-titled album.
A three-week recording session is currently underway in New York, with Questlove and Hammond Sr. helping out with both production and songwriting. And even though they’ve just gotten start, a source has said the trio has already recorded very early material that feels like it was born in 1963.
The album is expected to be released sometime later this year through Mercury Records.
