With every passing day, that Pavement reunion is becoming more jam-packed/totally overwhelming. Since we last talked, the band has confirmed its appearance at this year’s Coachella Music Festival and detailed its forthcoming compilation album, Quarantine the Past: The Best of Pavement.
Due out March 9th via Matador, the 23-track effort will include a mix of both “hits,” or the closest thing one can get to a “hit” when talking about these lo-fi rockers ( “Cut Your Hair”, “Stereo”, “Shady Lane”), and lesser known selections (“Mellow Jazz Docent”, “Unseen Power of the Picket Fence”).
Matador is now accepting pre-orders for the release. Plus, if you order now, 15% will be taken off your order, which should definitely help when faced with having to pay for all those upcoming tour dates.
Speaking of which, with the inclusion of Coachella, Pavement’s upcoming itinerary now has the band on the road, in some form or manner, for the next seven months. Basically, they’re giving you every opportunity to see them before they’re gone… forever.
