Over the last year, Plants and Animals have made more than a name for themselves playing some 150 shows around the world in support of 2008s Parc Avenue. With that now behind them, the Canadian indie rockers plan to unleash their latest collection of 70s-esque progressive rock, with subtle ties to folk/pop, entitled La La Land on April 20th via Secret City Records.
Recorded at three separate locations, the bands sophomore release undoubtedly shows signs of travel, from easy-going California coast vibes to lonesome Montreal winters, along with a crispier and more matured sound. Plants and Animals have taken a completely different approach with La La Land, resulting in a louder, smoother and more cohesive album than Parc Avenue. Inspired by the bands rediscovery of the wonders behind heavy amplification and fuzz pedals, La La Land plants us in the middle of a rock n roll ether, wrapped in experimental electric guitar work and juicy, raw analog.
