System of a Down may be next up for a reunion

First Pavement, then Soundgarden, now System of a Down? It certainly appears that way if bassist Shavo Odadjia’s recent comments mean anything. Though the band has been inactive since 2006, Odadjia raised suspicions of a possible come back earlier this week after tweeting the following: “Are u guys ready for System???”.

The band took an extended hiatus sometime after the release of its fifth studio album, 2005’s Hypnotize, so the members could pursue various side-projects. Lead singer Serj Tankian released his debut solo effort, Elect The Dead, in 2007, while guitarist Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan formed the band Scars on Broadway. However, throughout the hiatus, the band continually has stressed that it has not broken up.

Last November, the band offered the first sign of a possible comeback when Malakian, Odadjian, and Dolmayan appeared together onstage with the Deftones at a benefit gig in Hollywood for the band’s bassist, Chi Cheng.
