After being released from an Arkansas prison toward the end of December, you’d think T.I. would want to take some time off; hang out with friends and family, catch up on some movies, whatever. Instead, the king of the south, according to Rap-Up.com (via HipHopDX.com), is going right back into the studio.
Jim Jonsin, who helped Tip score a huge hit with “Whatever You Like”, recently spoke with the rapper as he spent time in an Atlanta halfway home. Despite being behind bars, T.I. is as eager as ever to get back to making music.
“It doesn’t seem like he missed a beat,” Jonsin said. “He was so upbeat, his spirits were up, and he’s excited to be out and working. He hasn’t changed, he sounded exactly like he did when I talked to him months before he went in.”
The album would be his followup to 2008’s Paper Trail. Sadly, though, it may take some time to get most of it done with Tip’s current work schedule.
“He’s back in the studio. I sent him some music via email,” Jonsin continued. “He can work during the week and not on the weekend, I believe. He’s definitely working on an album for this year right now.”
As for the content of the album, despite the life-changing experience, Jonsin said he doesn’t expect much of a content switch with T.I.’s first album back from the slammer.
“That’s really going to be determined by him. We’re supposed to get together or talk more about it soon,” Jonsin said. “But his last album was great and his sound already does really well, so I wouldn’t see him changing too much.”
