Turns out last year’s Beatlemania might carry over into the New Year.
During a Q&A session with fans last week, Yoko Ono announced she had started work on her long awaited autobiography. The infamous widow of Beatle John Lennon, told fans she “would love to do it. I just have to find the time.” While Ono, now 76, has led an illustrious life during the last 40 years, with notable works spanning performance artwork, avant-garde and experimental music, and extensive political activism, Yahoo! U.K. reports the autobiography will focus strongly on her relationship with Lennon and myths surrounding her involvement with the band’s break-up.
Previously, Ono had been reluctant to write her memoirs, fearing she may hurt the Lennon’s family and close friends. These people include Lennon’s first wife, Cynthia, and their son Julian Lennon. However, with the 2006 release of Cynthia Lennon’s book entitled John, the recent revival of Beatlemania, and her age, Ono may see this decade as the opportune time to reveal details about the couple’s affair and dispel the myths surrounding her involvement with the Beatles’ break-up.
So, when will Ono’s memoirs be on bookshelves? Sorry to say, but no time soon, as Ono has only started the process and expects to complete the autobiography sometime around 2015.
