Arcade Fire to play concert in seven days

It turns out Arcade Fire will not be playing its first non-festival North American concert in Toronto after all. As the Montreal Gazette points out, the band is set to perform at the Granada Theatre in Sherbrooke, Quebec on June 7th and 8th. That’s June 7th and 8th, as in exactly a week from today.

The performances will mark Arcade Fire’s first live concerts in nearly three years. If you’d like to be part of the experience, you can pick up tickets starting tomorrow, June 1st at 12:00pm EST via evenko.com. Tickets are priced at $37, $2 of which will be donated to Partners in Health, a non-profit organization that helps fight disease in impoverished countries around the world.

For those who can’t make it, you can always check out Arcade Fire at other live performances this summer (find a full list below). Plus, it’s not like we don’t have two new singles to hold us over too. And of course, there’s always the post-concert YouTube experience, which shows no geographical, age, or financial status biases. Basically, stay tuned.

By the way, on an interesting side note, The Strokes are also slated to make their long overdue live return next week. On June 12th, the band will play for the first time since 2006 at the UK based Isle of Wight.

Update: Arcade Fire has also announced an August 1st date for Boston, MA. Tickets go on sale June 4th via Ticketmaster.com. They’re also playing Atlanta with Spoon on August 11th. And… Arcade Fire and Spoon will also be playing Madison Square Garden in New York City on August 4th. Looks like a tour is shaping up. We are still waiting for confirmation from the band’s representation.
