When we last left Friendo, the band that always picks up when you call, they were announcing a record that celebrates the cassette tape while allowing a few musicians some freedom to play outside their steady gigs. Cold Toads, will finally see a non-cassette tape release on May 18th from St. Ives, so you can listen to the album in places besides your boyfriend’s used car. There will even be a small pressing (200) of vinyl that could be a collectors item or it could just sound really awesome.
Friendo have also chosen to stick with music tradition and support its album with live dates, which I have never seen any evidence to whether it actually works. But the band that never lets you drive drunk will give it the college try with dates in the major markets of the U.S. and Canada, beginning in their Calgary home on May 26th. The schedule seems to have a number of off days, which could indicate more dates to be added, or maybe Friendo just wants to enjoy themselves. We’ll keep you posted.
Friendo now has 582 MySpace friends, an increase of 84. More friendship still available.
