Jim James has got to share whatever substance (or substances) hes on because, for some reason or another, it seems like hes everywhere all at once.
His other group is working with The Roots, he seemingly plays on every tribute and benefit album out this year, and his new record label even sells food and auto parts that can be printed online. (You really want those substances now, dont you?)
Well for now well have to settle on (legal) bootlegs from My Morning Jackets followup to 2008s Evil Urges. The two originals (via You Aint No Picasso) and three covers were recorded during MMJs nine-date tour with New Orleans Preservation Hall Band.
Friends Again sounds like the band is playing at the coolest high school dance ever, and Mr. James even passes the mic to guitarist Carl Bromelon on Carried Away. To top it all of, MMJ cover Curtis Mayfields Move On Up.
Who knows how long it will take out to flesh out new songs for the album, but the possibility of new albums from My Morning Jacket and Monsters of Folk in 2010 has us all weak in the knees.
Listen to the songs yourself and/or go see MMJ this the summer when the bands hits the festival circuit and opens for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers on its rescheduled tour dates. Tickets for select tour dates are available via Ticketmaster.com.
