After contributing to the unexpectedly-awesome Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club put out the less-than-awesome Beat The Devil’s Tattoo. So how do they decide to bounce back from this? Get involved with more vampires, of course. And necromancers. And witches. And werepanthers (it’s a thing). The San Francisco rockers have contributed a cover of the True Blood theme song to the upcoming third volume of True Blood – Music From the HBO Series.
Jace Everett’s “Bad Things” plays over what is simultaneously one of the sexiest and most disturbing opening sequences on TV, a swampy country-blues number that perfectly sets the mood for the supernatural orgy that is True Blood. BRMC have taken the song in a totally different direction, turning it into a psychedelic, fuzzed-out rock song that, if it weren’t for the lyrics, would be totally unrecognizable as a cover. The song will be featured as a bonus track on the Digital Deluxe version of True Blood – Music From the HBO Series – Volume 3, out September 6th from WaterTower Music. Along with BRMC, the soundtrack features Neko Case and Nick Cave’s cover of “She’s Not There”, along with contributions from Massive Attack, PJ Harvey, Blakroc, and more.
