Over the years, the great Mavis Staples has teamed up with a slew of musical heavyweights for spirited covers of The Band’s 1968 classic “The Weight”. (See: Billy Bragg, Elvis Costello, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Franti, and, most recently, The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy.) At this weekend’s Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco, Arcade Fire’s Win Butler got his chance; you can watch the duo’s rendition in the video below.
