As previously reported, Guided by Voices will release their reunion record, Let’s Go Eat the Factory, on January 1st. Given that it’s the first effort with the group’s “classic lineup” since 1996, it’s a pretty big deal. Now, thanks to frontman Robert Pollard’s website (via P4K), we have our first taste with “The Unsinkable Fats Domino”. Over a crunchy, wavy rhythm section, Pollard yelps, “The water is undrinkable except for the unsinkable Fats Domino,” sounding slightly like a more melodic J Mascis. On first run, it’s punchy and no doubt kicks up some excitement for more. Check it out below.
“The Unsinkable Fats Domino”, backed by the B-side “We Won’t Apologize”, will be released as a 7″ single on November 22nd via Matador Records. Let’s Go Eat the Factory follows on New Year’s Day via GBV Inc./Fire.
