Looks like Damon Albarn is getting the band back together. Boy, remember when that wouldve been met with just Blurs coming back?! Well, with the future of Blur uncertain, Gorillaz currently on pause (but still kicking), and An Honest Jons Chop Up serving as a launching pad for Rocketjuice and The Moon, Albarn is repeating what he did with The Good, The Bad & The Queen just a few weeks back by reuniting the collective DRC Music for a one-off.
To refresh, DRC Music comprises Albarn, Dan the Automator, XL label head Richard Russell, London DJ Actress, and a group of over 50 Congolese musicians. Over the course of one week in the Congo, the group recorded a benefit LP titled Kinshasa One Two, with album profits going to Oxfam and their efforts in the region.
Now, as Clash Music reports, DRC Music will reconvene at Londons Rough Trade East record shop for a special in-store engagement said to include live performances and DJ set. Its currently unclear which members of the collective will be present, though we do know both the Western production team and the Congolese musicians will be represented [sic]. The show goes down December 6th, with free wristbands required for entry available at the store one day beforehand.
