Tonight, Sonic Youth is set to play what may be their final show ever in Brazil. (A divorce does awful things.) This leaves Thurston Moore with plenty of time on his hands. Perhaps that’s why he’s hitting the road again come January for another round of dates in support of his latest LP, Demolished Thoughts.
While we can’t tell how he’s feeling on the inside, Moore definitely won’t feel too alone on stage. Much like his previous tour this year, he’ll again be joined by Keith Wood, Mary Lattimore, John Maloney, and Samara Lubelski. But wait, there’s another face returning to the fold: Kurt Vile. The Philly roots rocker will open in both Somerville and D.C. — talk about a show for the weekend. It’s a little ways off, but the whole team rolls out January 28th, when the tour kicks off in Hartford, CT. You can peep the rest of the itinerary below.
Also, stay tuned for more information about Sonic Youth’s gig tonight. We’ll let you know when to cry.
Demolished Thoughts is currently available via Matador Records.
