On Tuesday night, Green Day performed a secret show close to home at San Francisco, CA’s Mezzanine. Some fan-recorded footage has surfaced, which brings us “Carpe Diem”, a new song that frontman Billie Joe Armstrong says is “about being alive, every fucking one of us.” It’s an admirable banger, skewing away from the more concept-heavy material as of late. No telling whether or not they’ll be back with a new LP anytime soon, but given the recent spur of secret shows, one has to think something is up. We’ll keep you updated.
