Video: M83 takes Fallon to “Midnight City”

How fitting that M83 would pop up on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The band’s latest single “Midnight City” aptly soundtracks J-Fal’s post-midnight festivities: it’s urgent, magnetic, and hypnotic. Some might say those are three adjectives that should summarize a high-quality late night host. No doubt Mr. Fallon falls under at least two of those – if not all three. Anyway, last night, the beatific electronic collective closed Fallon’s Monday night with a spot-on cut of the aforementioned track. As we recently reported, M83 has a way in transforming settings, dazzling its listeners with an array of lights and sounds. While soft on the lights at 30 Rock, Anthony Gonzalez & Co. sure as hell surprised everyone with a saxophonist towards the end, who delivered the song’s trademark sax solo to heart-chopping perfection. As Fallon screamed out following the performance, “That’s how you do it. Well done, my friend.” Yes, very well done. Check it out below, courtesy of The Audio Perv.

M83’s latest LP, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, is currently available everywhere.
