Someone folks will undoubtedly be fooled by the title, but we can confirm that Montreal avant-pop band Islands‘ “This Is Not A Song” is, in fact, a song. The first single from their upcoming fourth album, A Sleep & A Forgetting, the track is a slow, somber dose of minimalism, with creative head honcho Nick Thorburn’s voice emoting with a sensual energy in some parts and practically melting to pieces in others. Call it what you will, but the cut has heaps of gravity despite its utter sparseness. Take a listen below (via Pitchfork).
