Video: The Killers – “The Cowboys’ Christmas Ball”

Along with presents and festive cookies, Christmastime also means special holiday singles by a slew of big-name acts. Perhaps no band takes the feel-good contribution more seriously than Vegas New Wave rockers The Killers. This year marks the sixth year in a row the band has released a Christmas single, and this year’s offering truly takes the gingerbread house for most WTF-inducing.

“The Cowboys’ Christmas Ball” is a countrified gem of pure yuletide-injected honky tonk, telling the story of a near-magical cowboy ball where everyone enjoys a quaint hoedown. However, it’s the accompanying video, directed by Robert Schober, that puts the kitschy angel on the tree. If cheesy visuals of hokey cowpoke swaying to and fro, with the band dressed like miners and Wild West playboys, aren’t enough, there are also some alien robots thrown in for good measure, too. Well, ’tis the season, amirite? Feel the holiday spirit for yourself by watching below.

“The Cowboys’ Christmas Ball” and The Killers’ previous five Christmas singles are packaged together in a new benefit EP for RED, which is available exclusively through iTunes.
