Even after The Roots cut Jimmy Fallon’s beatboxing virtuosity from undun, the group still got a chance to showcase the album on last night’s episode of Fallon. The crew, along with guest collaborators Bilal, D.D. Jackson, and the Metropolis Ensemble, first offered up a medley of “Tip the Scale”/”Redford”, bringing to life the complicated, orchestral air of both songs while still managing to maintain a surprising level of intimacy throughout. The combined outfit then tackled some vintage soul and R&B with a rendition of “The OtherSide” that sounded especially stirring and heartbreaking live. Check out both performances below.
