Montreal noise punk outfit AIDS Wolf has announced its disbandment after nine very loud years, as the band’s Facebook reveals. Though no reason was given for the break up, Exclaim! reports they received this cryptic statement: “There’s always a reason… everything for a reason.”
AIDS Wolf roared onto the scene in 2003 and released their debut full-length, The Lovvers LP, in 2006. Their latest was 2011’s Ma vie banale avant-garde from Lovepump United Records. One final EP has been promised, as a Facebook comment states the band will be recording in May.
In a response to a Facebook post asking for a reunion tour, the band responded simply, “gross.” They do have a few remaining shows planned, however, so check the schedule below, followed by the video “Suck is Happiness” from 2010’s March to the Sea.
Post split, founding members Chloe Lum and Yannick Desranleau will be focusing on their visual art work under their Seripop title. Guitarist Alex Moskos, who joined in 2009, will continue on with his solo work as Drainolith.
