Amidst lineup changes and in-band fighting, Brooklyn five-piece Ravens & Chimes managed to rise above to complete their sophomore LP, entitled Holiday Life. Accordingly, the album channels the group’s trials and tribulations to give their lush, orchestral rock an introspective touch.
You’ve already heard lead single, “Night”; now sample the track called “Arrow”. Its delicate opening piano line gives way to a triumphant and heartfelt outburst, as frontman Asher Lack croons, “you can tell everyone you once knew something true, but now it’s gone.” Hearing Lack’s reflections on loss and longing while he shares vocal duties with pianist Rebecca Rossi, it’s hard not to get visions of Funeral-era Arcade Fire.
