In the midst of thrashing about North America with fellow progressive metal band Mastodon, the Swedish outfit Opeth will reissue four albums from the early aughts. Three studio album and their 2003 live album Lamentations will be re-released by The End Records on April 10th.
Opeth’s first ever North American release and what some consider one of the best metal albums of the previous decade, 2001’s Blackwater Park, will come at you in the Casebound Legacy Edition. In addition to a live recording of opening track “The Leper Affinity”, the reissue includes a DVD with the album’s eight tracks mixed in 5.0 surround sound and a Blackwater Park making-of documentary. A 28-page color booklet will also be included.
The other two albums, 2002’s Deliverance and 2003’s Damnation, will be sans flair. The CD/DVD package of Lamentations, however, will feature making-of docs for both aforementioned records. This collection will also mark the first time the CD and DVD of the 2003 show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire have been packaged together.
