Maybe you’ve heard him on a Beyoncé or an Outkast track, but Shuggie Ottis is obviously much more than the sum of his sampled work. He’s a cult figure, the psych-funk-R&B son of legendary singer Johnny Otis, and will be returning to the stage this year carrying old-old and new-old songs with him.
According to BrooklynVegan, Otis will be reissuing his 1974 Inspiration Information, tacking on four previously unreleased bonus tracks. The album’s release will also be paired with another compilation of songs, Wings of Love, featuring 14 unreleased live and studio tracks recorded between 1975 and 2000. You can pre-order that CD package right now at Amazon, which is slated for release April 16th, 2013.
