Watch Florence Welch and Dev Hynes cover Icona Pop’s “I Love It”

    Recently, the Human Rights Campaign held an event at New York’s (Le) Poisson Rouge in support of their “Equality Rocks” marriage rights project. In that spirit of camaraderie, unity, and other warm feelings, Florence Welch joined forces with Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange aka Lightspeed Champion) to cover Icona Pop’s Charli XCX-aided smash single “I Love It”. The bubbly electro-pop breakup anthem was made into something more sorrowful and morose, with Hynes delicately plucking at the keys while Welch somehow made lines like “You’re from the ’70s, but I’m a ’90s…” sound raw and visceral (actually, dropping the “bitch” adds surprising edge).
