Watch Mayer Hawthorne perform “Her Favorite Song” with musically-inclined dogs

It’s a little early, but Mayer Hawthorne’s “Her Favorite Song” is already my jam of the year. It’s sleek and sexy and playful, and its message of overcoming life’s adversity through the power of music is uplifting. (Pardon the Patrick Bateman moment). And now, there’s an equally incredible video to boot.

Totally eschewing any literal interpretations, Hawthorne plays a nightclub where dogs comprise both his backing band and members of the audience. I literally dare anyone reading this to not explode with glee at the sight of a Bull Terrier mixing drinks or a Dalmatian looking so not like a douche in a fedora. If every club was like this, I’d go out each night with pockets full of Milk-Bones and live like a belly-rubbing king.

“Her Favorite Song” is the lead single off Hawthorne’s third full-length album, Where Does This Door Go, due out July 16th via Republic Records.
