Initially started as a Vetiver side-project, Pure Bathing Culture has bloomed into a fully-realized musical venture in just two years. The duo, consisting of Sarah Versprille and Daniel Hindman, made their debut with last summer’s self-titled EP on Father/Daughter Records. Now, the pair’s prepped to release their full-length, Moon Tides, on August 20th via Memphis Industries/Partisan.
Much like the album’s lead single, “Pendulum”, their latest offering “Dream The Dare” is an alluring indie pop gem, built on rich, twinkling instrumentation and Versprille’s magical coo. The way she lures “C’moooon” during the chorus hits like a potent love potion, at once soothing and all-consuming. At its best, the track’s easily reminiscent of Beach House’s warmest melodies, and at its worst… well, it’s still damn good.
