Sampha already has quite the impressive musical resume, having worked with the likes of Drake, Jessie Ware and SBTRKT (see here, here and here, respectively). But now, the London R&B singer is ready to step out into the spotlight with his first solo EP, Dual, due out July 29th on Young Turks. The first single, “Without”, is undoubtedly all Sampha his milky, soothing and silken vocals a seductive front-and-center instrument interwoven through feverish pitter-patters of percussion and an unrelenting hypnotic buzz.
In a recent interview with Pitchfork, he explained the story behind the song: “I wrote it a few nights after I met someone I liked. I was just thinking about my own natural way of one-night stands: always wanting to be more attached to something. I’m not very good at detaching myself.”
