Music junkies are innate daydreamers. Why? Because reality rarely offers us the musical highs we crave on a regular basis. So, we recently posed this question to our staff: What would be the ultimate one-song live reunion?
The following is what we dreamt up. It’s a wish list that runs the gamut from pipedream to wet dream, with the occasional wish upon a star that could actually come true. And if these reunions did happen, we could finally return to reality for good. Yeah, dream on.
Note: Since the publication of this article, OutKast has officially reunited. Yeah!

Sleater-Kinney – “Modern Girl”
Where? The Pacific Northwest’s first Independence Day celebration.
Why? I live hoping that a live performance would dislodge this song from my head.
Odds: It’s really just a successful Portlandia sketch away.

David Bowie and Mick Jagger – “Head Over Heels”
Where? A small high school in Middlesex, VA
Why? It’s hard to forget the magic behind Bowie and Jagger’s ’80s gem “Dancing in the Street”. And with Bowie’s triumphant return to music this year, it’s high time we see another slice of his silly side. I imagine the pair old and hardened, but unable to hide their personal passions, forcing them to bounce around spastically, lock eyes and serenade one other yet again. It’d be a sexy display of manhood, clearly inappropriate for minors, but not as vulgar once we realize Bowie’s character is just Jagger’s imaginary doomsday lover. Will Jagger decide to destroy the world in hopes of finding true love? Tune in next week.
Odds: About as likely as a successful Donnie Darko trilogy.
