Amid the uber sexy electro-funk jams of his latest self-titled album, Jamie Lidell’s new single, “Big Love”, feels like it was ripped from some hybrid of Fame and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo. So then, it’s only fitting that its accompanying music video gets a little dance magic from Cincinnati’s own Q-Kidz Dance Team, who bring their tight choreography and shimmery outfits to the city’s municipal pool, boxing gym, and ice cream parlor.
“The Q-Kidz are the bomb,” Lidell said of the troupe, who he met through bassist Bootsy Collins. “They destroy all cynicism with their sheer joy and passion and leave a trail of heart-warming smiles behind them wherever they go. It’s pretty rare these days to feel a genuine life rush but these girls with all their raw passion, discipline and exuberant joy just blew us all away.”
Jamie Lidell the album is out now via Warp Records.
