Listen to Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin’s new single, “Young Presidents”

For their upcoming fourth album, Fly By Wire, Missouri indie-pop outfit Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin were inspired by a journey. Last fall, after trekking 5,000 miles across the world to serve as cultural ambassadors to Russia, they came back home energized for what lay ahead. With each new single, the band has revealed a different side of their reborn musical identity.

With lead single “Nightwater Girlfriend”, the trio explored the remaining tinges of teenage angst with ’90s power-pop intensity. Next came the more contemplative “Harrison Ford”, full of gentle piano and world-worn musings like, “Wild eyes, you don’t have to be good”.

Today, they’ve unveiled “Young Presidents”. Gone is the apprehension or sense of weariness, replaced by the utterly sublime and infectious rhythms of saccharine-sweet harmonies, scattered handclaps, and the bubbly churning of vintage keys. While much of the lyrical content seems to be aimless (references to “young presidents”, the “Stop. Go” chorus call), they work contextually, making this one breezy affair sure to sweep you up with its waves of life-affirming energy. Listen in below.

Fly By Wire is due out September 17th via Polyvinyl. In support, the band recently announced a US tour for this October/November. Consult their full schedule below.
