Brooklyn noise rockers Mr. Dream return today with “Fringy Slider”, their first new material since last February’s Fatherland EP. In their time away, the trio have have expanded upon their musical repertoire, leaving behind some of their sludgier tendencies in favor of a sleek and shimmery bit of dance-punk that blends early Franz Ferdinand swagger with Interpol’s artsier aesthetic. But even with a more danceable sound, there’s an underlying sense of tension and angst bubbling below the surface that keeps the band deeply rooted to their blistering back catalog. Listen in below (via Stereogum).

“Fringy Slider” is the lead single off the band’s forthcoming new album, The Ultimate In Luxury, due out sometime in the near future via drummer Nick Sylvester’s Godmode label.
