Florida-based rapper Denzel Curry has announced plans to follow-up last year’s excellent Nostalgic 64 mixtape with a new double EP, Planet Shrooms. While there’s no release date set, the 19-year-old emcee has offered a preview with a new single entitled “Stadium Starship”.
Here, Curry’s absolutely hypnotic flow sticks close to the syrupy beat provided by producer The Pryvmids. And, despite its somewhat playful song title, “Stadium Starship” is serious and somber, bookended by a newscast about a murder and gunshot sounds. Based on this sneak peek, Planet Shrooms is bound to be another dark and deeply visceral effort from a truly promising young wordsmith. Listen in below.
