Frank Ocean teams up with The Clash and Diplo for new track “Hero”

Converse’s long-running Three Artists, One Song series has previously led to unique collaborations between Gorillaz, André 3000, and James Murphy (“DoYaThing”) and Julian Casablancas, Santigold, and Pharrell (“My Drive Thru”). The latest installment brings together R&B crooner Frank Ocean, super producer Diplo, and The Clash’s own Mick Jones and Paul Simonon for a song called “Hero”. Aside from the uniqueness of the collaboration, it marks the first time Jones and Simonon have worked together since touring with Gorillaz in support of 2010’s Plastic Beach.

    Diplo said of the collaboration:

The Clash were always teachers to me, even before I shared a studio with Paul and Mick. Their musical anarchy and constant attitude to disregard rules and forge their own path was inspirational to me. They meant death to genres, music and message above everything. Frank lives by the same creed in being married to his vision and seeing it through at any cost. We had to challenge each other to make something that we hope no one could expect and Converse valued everyone’s artistic freedom to let us shine throughout the past few months to make this thing happen.

The track will be released on March 10th.
