Damon McMahon’s folk project Amen Dunes is releasing its latest full-length album, Love, on May 13th via Sacred Bones. After sharing the lovely, country-tinged lead single “Lonely Richard”, McMahon returns with another sunny album cut entitled “Lilac In Hand”.
Like “Lonely Richard”, “Lilac In Hand” does away with McMahon’s earlier, experimental tendencies, aiming instead for tighter song structures that fall in line more with standard Americana than lo-fi freak folk. Featuring just an acoustic guitar, understated piano notes and percussion, it’s a remarkably simple song, with McMahon’s developing voice deftly filling the track’s empty spaces.
