Stream: Foster the People’s new album Supermodel

Foster the People will release its sophomore album Supermodel on March 18th via Columbia Records. In anticipation, it’s streaming in full via iTunes’ First Play.

The follow-up to 2011′s smash debut Torches was recorded over two years alongside producer Paul Epworth (Paul McCartney, Adele, U2). Frontman Mark Foster called the album an exploration of the “ugly side of capitalism”, telling NME, “It’s like a time capsule of thoughts and ideas and the things I was struggling with at the time. I look back at some songs now and think, ‘Wow, I was really angry when I wrote that!'”

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Foster further described the album as “polarizing,” noting that with this record “I went into it wanting to do something more organic and human, because the first record was so electronic and synthetic.” Foster also told Rolling Stone that he was inspired by recent trips to the Middle East and Africa. “I took from my travels… and put that perspective into the record, so it’s got an interesting mix of things. I’m excited to play it live. It’s a record that’s going to come to life more onstage.”
