Listen: Antemasque’s “People Forget”, a new single from Mars Volta and Flea’s new band

Earlier this week, three fourths of The Mars Volta reunited as Antemasque, a new band that also features Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist and future memoirist Flea. Since the supergroup’s announcement, the four-piece has consistently been dropping new singles via their Bandcamp page. Following “4am” and “Hanging In The Lurch”, comes “People Forget”, another pulsating arena-ready track.

On the song, frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s high pitched yelp and guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López’s frenetic, reverb-heavy guitar theatrics work in tandem to showcase their undeniable chemistry that’s carried them throughout their At The Drive-In and Mars Volta days. A brooding and chugging bassline from Flea gives the track some proto-punk flair, as Bixler-Zavala sings about atheists in foxholes and “falling out of the sky.” Listen in below.
